San Nicandro Garganico is located in the northernmost part of the promontory. It is so fascinating because it stands on a complex of hills in the Gargano National Park.

San Nicandro Garganico offers a wide variety of landscapes. This also allows you to have a large range of things to do while staying in the area. Starting with the more naturalistic ones, you must know that the two Gargano lakes are located on the edge of the village. The lakes of Lesina and Varano are a tourist destination for all fishing enthusiasts.
We suggest you visit them if you love the idea of feeling surrounded by nature. Moving away from the coast, however, it is possible to visit the most famous sinkhole of the Gargano as well as the second largest in Europe. We are talking about the “Pozzatina” sinkhole, 650m long and 450m wide and immersed in a forest of oaks and holm oaks.

For lovers of trekking and long walks, near San Nicandro Garganico, we suggest the path that leads to Bosco Spinapulci. A simple and very suggestive route. Another option is the “Secret Gargano” route which leads to Cagnano Varano passing through San Marco in Lamis. In the heart of the city is the Norman-Aragonese Castle, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, perhaps for strategic military reasons. Nearby is also the Mother Church of Santa Maria del Borgo. A church dating back to 1573-1580 where you can admire wooden statues of the Neapolitan tradition. In the historical center there is the Historical Ethnographic and Peasant Civilization Museum which bears witness to the history of the place.
Every year, in August, the food and wine festival “Piazza dei Sapori Gargano” is organized in San Nicandro Garganico. The perfect opportunity to taste the typical products of the tradition.
