Cagnano Varano is one of the villages of the Gargano, built on a rocky outcrop which in ancient times gave it a strategic position. Known for Lake Varano, an important tourist destination, it is a village rich in religious and non-religious history, immersed in a natural paradise.

Cagnano Varano is a white and perched village, it is located between the sea, the lake and the hills of the Gargano. Lake Varano, among the things to see absolutely, is separated from the sea by a thin strip of sand. It is a place much appreciated by tourists and locals because it offers the opportunity to spend pleasant days in nature.
The beach is white and the sea is clear, if you want to spend an unforgettable day we suggest you take a boat from here to go down the coast exploring the many sea caves and coves. In Cagnano Varano there is the “Grotta di San Michele” (San Michele cave) also known as the “Grotta dell’Angelo” (angel cave) in which the saint is said to have appeared there.
This cave represents one of the stages of the pilgrims who walk towards Monte Sant’Angelo and has traces of the men who lived here in the Neolithic. Among the things to see we also recommend the ancient Baronial Palace built in the Norman era.
The village is famous for the production of mussels and capitoni. It ranks among the first producers in Europe, in addition to the production of extra virgin olive oil and the breeding of eels.
At the end of July, the Cagnano Living Festival is held, a festival of youth creativity that is expressed through exhibitions, presentations, artistic and musical competitions.
