At the roundabout, take the exit towards Vieste\/Peschici\/Rodi Garganico. After 5km on the SP41 take the right exit for San Nicandro Garganico or Sannicandro (as it could be indicated by the sign).<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>By train:<\/strong> get off at the San Severo or Foggia station and continue with the &#8220;Ferrovie del Gargano&#8221; using a local train.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>By bus:<\/strong> The &#8220;Ferrovie del Gargano&#8221; also manage buses that take you directly to San Nicandro.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>By plane:<\/strong> The closest airports are those of Pescara and Bari. After that you can choose to continue by renting a car or taking public transport.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>What to do in San Nicandro Garganico<\/h2>\r\n<p>San Nicandro Garganico offers a wide <strong>variety of landscapes<\/strong>. This also allows you to have a large range of things to do while staying in the area. Starting with the more naturalistic ones, you must know that the two Gargano lakes are located on the edge of the village. <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.homegargano.com\/en\/discover-gargano\/the-lakes-of-gargano-characteristics-and-curiosities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The lakes of Lesina and Varano<\/a> are a tourist destination for all fishing enthusiasts.<\/p>\r\n<p>We suggest you visit them if you love the idea of feeling surrounded by nature. Moving away from the coast, however, it is possible to visit the most famous <strong>sinkhole of the Gargano<\/strong> as well as the second largest in Europe. A simple and very suggestive route. Another option is the <em>&#8220;Secret Gargano&#8221;<\/em> route which leads to <strong>Cagnano Varano<\/strong> passing through <strong>San Marco in Lamis.<\/strong> In the heart of the city is the <strong>Norman-Aragonese Castle<\/strong>, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, perhaps for strategic military reasons. Nearby is also the <strong>Mother Church of Santa Maria del Borgo<\/strong>. A church dating back to 1573-1580 where you can admire wooden statues of the Neapolitan tradition. In the historical center there is the <strong>Historical Ethnographic and Peasant Civilization Museum<\/strong> which bears witness to the history of the place.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Curiosity:<\/h3>\r\n<p>Every year, in August, the food and wine festival <em>&#8220;Piazza dei Sapori Gargano&#8221;<\/em> is organized in San Nicandro Garganico.
