Carpino is a small village that has less than five thousand inhabitants. What makes it special<\/strong> is the architecture<\/strong> with which it was built and the traditions it preserves over time. It is a place in which to rediscover the peasant culture, taste typical products<\/strong> such as EVO oil and broad beans, stroll through the historic center and enjoy a dry and cool climate.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

How to get:<\/h3>\r\n
    \r\n
  • By car:<\/strong> Coming from the north and from the centre, take the Poggio Imperiale motorway exit and continue along the SS693 in the direction of Carpino. Coming from the South via the A16, take the Candela motorway exit and continue along the SS89.<\/li>\r\n
  • By train:<\/strong> Get off at the Foggia stop or alternatively at San Severo and continue with the Ferrovie del Gargano company.<\/li>\r\n
  • By plane:<\/strong> Land in Bari or Foggia and continue by taxi, with the Ferrovie del Gargano or by renting a car.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    Carpino is a small village<\/strong> in the heart of the Gargano, where in summer<\/strong> the temperature remains drier and cooler<\/strong> compared to the coast. This feature combined with the particular architecture with which it was built entice tourists and travelers to spend time there to rediscover this small and old Italian village.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The houses are all stuck together<\/strong> and the alleys are very narrow with many stairways. The buildings are made characteristic by the balcony balconies also called “Mugnal”.<\/em> Worth seeing in Carpino are the historic centre<\/strong>, the remains of the Norman-Swabian Castle<\/strong> and the Mother Church<\/strong> consecrated in 1678.<\/p>\r\n

    Curiosity:<\/h3>\r\n

    Carpino is known for the production of extra virgin olive oil and is a Slow Food presidium for the production of broad beans<\/strong>. Twice a year a festival is held to savor these typical products: mark your calendars for December 7th and August 12th! The “Palo di San Rocco”<\/em> has been held in Carpino since the early 1900s, a competition on horseback that begins in the central square of the town where the parish priest blesses jockeys and horses.
