Borgo Celano is a fraction of San Marco in Lamis<\/strong>, on the Gargano, at about 668 meters above sea level. Always a fundamental stop for pilgrims, it is a village surrounded by nature<\/strong> where you can enjoy the clean air to regenerate yourself.<\/p>\r\n

  • By car:<\/strong>\u00a0coming from the north, center or south on the motorway, take the San Severo exit and continue along the SS272 state road following signs for San Marco in Lamis, Borgo Celano is located a little further on. Coming from Naples, take the Candela exit and continue first along the SS655 up to Foggia, then along the SS16, take the SP27 before San Severo and finally take the SS272 up to your destination.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    What to see in Borgo Celano:<\/h2>\r\n

    Borgo Celano is a fraction of San Marco in Lamis, along the state road 272 towards San Giovanni Rotondo<\/strong>. The name “Borgo Celano” was originally “Villaggio San Matteo”. <\/em>It was\u00a0built at the beginning of the 1900s at the foot of Monte Celano, on the proposal of the friars, as a strategic point to welcome pilgrims heading to Monte Sant’Angelo. It was as a home for the peasants and as a place to experience convalescence<\/strong>. This village becomes so populated that the Church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Immaculate Conception<\/strong> soon rises.<\/p>\r\n

    A very interesting locality aspect is that Borgo Celano became the reference point for spending one’s holidays and was therefore one of the first tourist attractions near Foggia.
