Vignanotica beach is one of the white pearls of the Gargano. Crystal clear water and Mediterranean scrub as a contrast, make this place unique and fascinating. Vignanotica is a quiet beach, easy to reach and almost never crowded. Let’s find out better together!
Vignanotica beach is located halfway between Vieste and Mattinata and is very well signposted. Precisely for this reason, if you are by car, it is easy to reach by taking the provincial road 53, turning onto the side road near the “trattoria la montagna”. Once you arrive at your destination there are two paid parking lots and from there you can reach the beach with a five-minute walk. However, this is not the only way to get to Vignanotica. If you don’t have a car, there is a bus line, the 744, which connects the center of Mattinata to the most famous beaches in the direction of Vieste. Among these there is also the beach of Vignanotica.
The path of love is a path that runs along the Baia delle zagare and Vignanotica beach. It is 3 km long (about an hour’s journey) and is located at a height of about 140 meters above the sea. The difference in height is 50 meters so it is not particularly challenging even if it should be emphasized that the terrain is sometimes bumpy, with stones and rocks. You walk immersed in the Mediterranean scrub surrounded by Aleppo pines. Obviously it can be traveled in both directions, therefore both starting from Baia delle Zagare towards Vignanotica beach and vice versa.
Access to the trek is along the SP53 road, if you want to start from Baia delle Zagare you can leave your car about two kilometers after the beach in a small free car park. Given the small number of places, we advise you to arrive very early or even better to take the path in the low season.
The Vignanotica beach is a mix of sand, gravel and pebbles, the water is crystal clear and the high limestone cliffs form the background, giving it a truly suggestive appearance. Under the imposing rocks there are many small caves that make this place unique. Here it is possible both to go to the free beach and to use the sunbeds and umbrella service, as you prefer. It is important to keep in mind that the sea is transparent but it quickly becomes deep. Most of the time it looks like a quiet and uncrowded beach, except of course for the very high season. Last feature, but not least, the sunset on the Vignanotica beach is breathtaking, so we suggest you stay until the evening and enjoy it to the full!
