Beaches of Rodi Garganico

Rodi Garganico is a small village perched on the edge of the Umbra Forest which divides the coast into two parts. We are talking about a village that has seen civilizations inhabit it since the Neolithic and which over time has become famous for its citrus groves and its beaches with crystal clear sea. Let’s discover all the characteristics of this stretch of coast together!

Rodi Garganico beaches

How to get to Rodi Garganico

Reaching the village of Rodi Garganico is very simple, in fact there are two main roads in the Gargano: the provincial road which runs along the promontory and the state road which passes through the hinterland. Depending on your starting point, just take one of these two roads and you will arrive directly in Rodi. Here the main parking is along the road between the beach and the railway (free) or in the tourist port (for a fee). Obviously in high season it is preferable to arrive early in the morning to be able to find a place more easily.

Beaches of Rodi Garganico

The beaches of Rodi Garganico are all beautiful, clean and with a crystal-colored sea but they differ significantly from each other in terms of difficulty in reaching them and the presence or absence of services.

Levante beach

To the right of the tourist port we find the Levante (east) beach. The sand here is particularly soft and the sea is truly transparent! The water deepens slowly and gradually so you can easily come here with children. Furthermore, it is a lido with all the necessary comforts, sunbed and umbrella rental, bars, kiosks, restaurants and a lifeguard service. Only the part furthest from the center has remained free but it is a fairly small section. In short, a beach that we would like to recommend to anyone who wants to spend one or more relaxing days in complete comfort.

Leone (lion) Beach

Passing the port there is a small cove that is completely free and wild. It owes its name to a rock that appears on the shore and which appears to have the shape of a lion. Watching the waves crash against it, it even seems that the foam is the thick mane of the lion. Among all the beaches of Rodi Garganico this is the middle ground in terms of difficulty, the easiest way to get there is to walk until you pass the tourist port and thus access it directly.

Cala camomilla (chamomile cove)

Beyond Baia del Leone there is another completely free cove which takes its name from the expanse of daisies that grow there. The only way to get there is to cross the village and park near the parking lot “under the castle”. From here you continue walking but there is no well-signposted route so the advice is to help you with google maps in satellite version or maybe ask some local for help.

Tourist port of Rodi Garganico

Port is truly a gem for this place. With its modernity and elegance it pleasantly contrasts the old village behind it. It deserves a walk among the cafes and shops it hosts.

Characteristics:

  • sandy
  • free and private
  • suitable for children
