The Gargano is full of inlets, caves and coves that can only be reached by sea. That is why boat trips is one of the best experiences you can have on the spur of Italy. Following the coasts it is possible to reach uncontaminated places, where the Mediterranean maquis is so thick that it does not allow access by land.

Any area of the Gargano is worth visiting by boat, but if we really have to recommend one, we suggest the one that most of all is unexplorable by land. We are talking about the stretch that goes from Vieste to Mattinata. In fact, along the coastal road that connects the two villages, you can see how the vegetation is so thick that it doesn’t allow you to visit many of the coves that are actually visible on the map.
This section is also the best for visiting the most famous sea caves of the Gargano:
Traveling along the coast you will notice many quiet coves where you can feel like real explorers but if you wish you can also reach the most sought-after beaches and visit them from a completely different and privileged perspective.
First of all Baia delle Zagare which otherwise by land needs to request a pass from the municipality of Mattinata to access it. We also suggest a stop in Pugnochiuso Bay which is totally private, Baia dei Campi and the beach of San Felice with the very famous “architello” reachable only by sea.
The Tremiti Islands are a paradise of wild and untouched nature. The perfect place for those who love to snorkel or dive. Reaching them is very simple, countless ferries leave from the mainland throughout the summer day but the pleasure of doing it with a boat is a decidedly suggestive alternative!
This small archipelago is made up of the island of San Domino, which is the most famous and the largest. The island of San Nicola, Caprara, the Cretaccio which is a rock that can be reached by swimming and Pianosa, uninhabited and further away.
Boat trips on the Gargano can be very different from each other as an experience. If you like the idea of taking a guided tour in great company, you can opt for a group tour on large boats. If you prefer a more intimate experience, you can opt for the rental of a boat with a skipper and perhaps share the journey with other tourists. Finally, if you want to feel like a true explorer, there is the possibility of renting a dinghy without a boat license and setting off on an adventure.
